A digital sewing pattern for the Day Light daypack, designed by Stitchback Gear. The DL was drawn to be easy to make: the construction is stripped back to the essentials, which leaves you with a clean, minimalist pack and a build that won't defeat you partway through. Good for anyone with some sewing experience, and a sensible first backpack if you've only made pouches and bags so far.

At roughly 17 litres it's sized for day hikes, travel, and getting around town. Because the structure is minimal it packs down small when empty, so it works as a second pack stuffed inside a larger one for side trips. The pack in the photos weighs 8.6oz, though your finished weight depends on the fabrics you choose.

Several features are optional, so you can add function or strip it right back. Built in heavy duty materials like 1200d Cordura re/cor or EPX200, as shown in the photos, it will last for years. Built in UltraGrid instead, it becomes a fast and light pack for peak bagging.

We recommend buying the pattern before ordering materials, so you understand the project and its requirements before you commit to fabric.

Stitchback Gear's CAD drafted patterns give you a jump start on your next MYOG project. Build it as drawn, or use it as a launching point and customise it to fit. This listing is a digital download: a PDF with the full size pattern and instructions, formatted to print on 8.5x11" paper.
