EPLX200

EPLX200 is a waterproof laminate pack fabric built from three bonded layers: a 200 denier recycled polyester face, a 45 degree crossply reinforcement, and a recycled polyester film backing. At 4.8 oz per square yard it lands in the sweet spot most pack builders are looking for, light enough for a frameless daypack or a bikepacking roll, but still though. For load bearing panels, use an alternative such as EPX400.

The crossply layer is what separates a laminate like this from a coated woven. 

The film backing makes the fabric itself fully waterproof. Every needle hole is a hole, so a genuinely dry pack needs taped or sealed seams, and a roll top rather than a zipper if you want to keep water out at the closure. Plan the build around that from the start rather than trying to fix it afterward.

The face carries a C0 DWR with no fluorocarbons, and there is no PVC or TPU anywhere in the laminate. The woven components are certified recycled polyester and the film is 100% recycled and rated 97% UV resistant, which matters more than it sounds like it should on a fabric that will spend years in direct sun.

Sold by the half yard and cut continuously, so ordering four gets you a single two yard piece rather than four separate cuts. Shipped folded. Swatch samples are available.
