A 4-way stretch woven that doesn't behave like stretch fabric usually does. Nylon 6-6 and Lycra give it the movement, and Ultra-PE fibre gives it strength that's wildly out of proportion to its stretch: over 20,000 abrasion cycles and tear strength above 10,000 cN. Most stretch fabric wears out at the pocket mouth. This one doesn't.
It's the fabric for side and shove-it pockets, bottle sleeves, and stretch panels on ultralight packs, where a pocket has to expand around a jacket or a water bottle, take repeated abuse, and pull flat again when empty. Recovery is where cheap stretch fails, and it's what you're paying for here. Finished with a C0 DWR, so it sheds light rain without the weight of a coating.
Worth knowing before you cut: the Ultra-PE fibre that makes it so tough also makes it hard to cut. Regular fabric scissors and rotary blades struggle. A fresh blade or a pair of cut-resistant scissors will save you a lot of frustration. It's also dense for a stretch fabric, so pockets come out more structured than you might expect.
