Genuine Cordura® Classic 1000D, woven from brand nylon 6.6 yarn. This is the fabric the entire pack industry benchmarks against, and it has held that position for decades for one reason: it takes abuse better than anything else at the price. At 9.15 oz per square yard it is a heavy fabric, and it is meant to be. This is what goes on the panel that drags on the ground.
The 1000D refers to the yarn denier, but the part that matters more is the 6.6. Nylon 6,6 has a higher melting point and better abrasion and UV performance than nylon 6, and considerably better than polyester of the same weight. A lot of what gets sold as 1000D pack cloth is nylon 6 or polyester woven to look similar, and it will not wear the same way over five years. If you are building something you expect to still be using in a decade, this is the difference you are paying for.
The face carries a DWR finish and the back is PU coated. That combination sheds rain and resists soaking, but it is water resistant, not waterproof. Water will find its way through the seams and eventually through the fabric under sustained pressure. If you need a genuinely dry build, look at the laminates instead, or use Cordura where you want toughness and line the interior.
Typical builds: backpacks, duffels, luggage, tool bags and organizers, motorcycle and tactical gear, dog gear, and upholstery that has to survive real use. It is also the standard choice for reinforcement panels, pack bottoms, and lash points on bags made primarily from lighter fabric, where you want the abrasion resistance only in the places that need it.
Eighteen colours, including four high visibility options in neon pink, neon green, fluorescent orange, and yellow. Those are worth knowing about if you build anything that needs to be seen on a roadside or in a workplace.
Sold by the half yard and cut continuously, so ordering four gets you a single two yard piece rather than four separate cuts. Shipped folded by default. If you need it shipped rolled, contact us.
