Diamond Ripstop Nylon

A 4.5 oz ripstop woven from 400 denier warp and 300 denier fill, with a diamond grid rather than the usual square one. Those are heavy yarns for a fabric this light, which is the whole point: you get the tear resistance and the hand of something more substantial without carrying the weight of it. It sits in the range where most people building light packs and stuff sacks want to be.

The face carries a DWR finish and the back is PU coated. That combination sheds rain and handles a wet morning, but it is water resistant, not waterproof. Sustained rain will get through, and seams will leak. If you need a genuinely dry build, use a laminate for the outer and keep this for the parts that do not need to be sealed.

It works well for pack bodies, stuff sacks, pack liners, bike bag shells, gear organizers, and dog gear. It is also a good choice for pockets, collars, and secondary panels on a build whose main body is something heavier, where you want to save weight without dropping to a fabric that will not take abuse.

Sold by the half yard and cut continuously, so ordering four gets you a single two yard piece rather than four separate cuts. Shipped folded. Swatch samples are available.
