EPLX400 is built for panels that take a beating. The recycled 400d face gives close to twice the abrasion resistance of standard 420d nylon, and at 3,000 cycles on the Taber test it holds up to six times better than our 200d laminates. Pack bottoms, bike bag sides, and anywhere the build meets rock, road, or truck bed.
Unlike EPX200, there's no woven backing here. A 0.5 mil RUV matte film finishes the inside, so you get a clean interior without a liner and save the weight of one. That does make the back face slippery under the presser foot, so use a walking foot or a fabric guide and take the first seam slowly.
The performance comes with a real environmental story. All woven components are recycled polyester, the film is UV resistant at 97%, the water-repellent finish is a C0 DWR with no fluorocarbons, and the fabric is fully recyclable at end of life. The 45° Blue CrossPly adds tear strength and bias stability.
The fabric is waterproof, so for a fully weatherproof build you'll want to seal or tape the seams. Sold per half yard and shipped folded. Finish your build with matching webbing, buckles and hardware, and a water-resistant zipper, or explore more technical laminate fabrics.
