Backpack Rain Cover - Digital
A digital sewing pattern for a backpack rain cover, designed by Stitchback Gear. Rather than a fixed size, it walks you through measuring your own pack and working out what to cut, so you get a cover that actually fits rather than one that flaps or won't stretch over a loaded lid. Instructions for a small stuff pouch are included, so it packs down and lives in a lid pocket between storms.
The cover holds on with an elastic drawcord around the perimeter and a micro cord across the back of the pack, which is what stops it lifting off in wind or catching on branches.
We recommend buying the pattern before ordering materials, so you understand the project and its requirements before you commit to fabric.
Stitchback Gear's CAD drafted patterns give you a jump start on your next MYOG project. Build it as drawn, or use it as a launching point and customise it to fit. This listing is a digital download: a PDF with the full size pattern and instructions, formatted to print on 8.5x11" paper.

What you'll need
A rain cover wants a light, properly waterproof fabric, so start with our waterproof range or a coated water-resistant option. You'll also need shock cord, a cord lock, elastic, and thread. Seams leak, so add seam sealer if you want it fully weatherproof. Try your colour combination in our MYOG Gear Design Tool before you order, or browse more outdoor gear patterns.
