TERA 40

Gütermann TERA 40 is the heavier-duty continuous-filament polyester thread in the TERA line, built for seams that carry real load. The thicker the thread, the more each stitch can hold, and TERA 40 is the thick one (despite the lower number, it's heavier than TERA 80), so it's the right pick for the high-stress seams on packs, bags, bike bags, and load-bearing straps.

The continuous-filament construction gives it high breaking strength and a smooth surface that feeds cleanly and shrugs off abrasion, and a heat-resistant finish keeps it sewing well at speed. It needs a larger needle to match its weight, so pair it with a 90 to 110 (size 14 to 18). Each cone holds 400 metres.

For lighter-weight seams on small packs and pouches, the finer TERA 80 is the better match. Otherwise, pick the fabric for your build or browse more thread.
