The adjustable gate keeper, also known as a lockable G-hook, is a secure, removable closure for straps. The hook catches onto a bar or webbing loop and a small gate keeps it from popping loose on its own, so the connection stays put until you choose to release it. The adjustable side lets you set and change the strap length, so one piece handles both the latch and the fit.
It's a common choice on packs and bags wherever you want a strap that detaches cleanly but holds securely under load, and it's light without giving up strength. Moulded from acetal, it stands up to weather and regular use, on new builds and repairs alike.
This is the left-handed version. The left and right are sold separately, and many builds use one of each, so check which hand (or pair) your project needs.
