Ecopak EPX400 is the heavier-duty member of the Ecopak family, a recycled, waterproof laminate for builds that need to take a beating. It shares the same construction approach as the lighter EPX200, but steps the face up to a burly 400d, so it brings extra structure and abrasion resistance to packs, bike bags, bottoms of bags, and any panel that sees hard wear. Like the rest of the line it stays easy to work with, holding its shape and sewing cleanly despite the heft.
The performance comes with the same environmental credentials that make Ecopak stand out. The woven components are 100% Repreve recycled polyester, the film is fully recycled and UV resistant, and the water-repellent finish is a C0 DWR with no fluorocarbons, no PVC, and no TPU. It's made without VOCs, and every yard saves over a pound of CO2 compared with virgin pack fabric. The signature 45 degree CrossPly even cuts cutting waste by improving how panels nest on the cloth.
The fabric itself is waterproof, so for a fully weatherproof build you'll just want to seal or tape the seams. It's sold per half yard and shipped folded. If you need the same look in a lighter weight, the EPX200 is the 200d version of this fabric.
Finish your build with matching webbing, buckles and hardware, and a water-resistant zipper, or explore more technical laminate fabrics.
